These daffodils were planted in crates for the first time in Autumn/Fall 2022 and they bloomed beautifully in Spring 2023. Due to limited space, I dug most of them up after the leaves have turned brown and stored the bulbs in a cool place. However, I decided to leave around 5 crates at the back of the garden with the crates sat on concrete just to see if the will still come back the following season if I leave them to their own devices.
Fast forward to late winter/end of Feb. 2024 and here they are, all starting to bloom again.
Will they still come back next year (Spring 2025) looking exactly the same if I leave them again in the crates? I am not sure as they have all been planted quite close to each other (3-5 cm apart) back in autumn 2022 and I imagine the bulbs have multiplied and are now sitting in a tighter space. Therefore, I intend to dig half of the crates up, store the bulbs as usual, but leave the other half of the crates as they are again and see how they will look like on their 3rd year.
