"When someone deeply loved becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure..."

...and that's how the concept of Blooms for Two was brought to life...

Dec. 2020 December 23, 2020 forever will be the most devastating day of my life. This is the day I've sadly lost my mother. She was only 59. Due to covid, I was unable to travel overseas to see her one last time to say goodbye. As painful as this event was, I was still blessed to have a wonderful (and at the time was already a former) mother-in-law who had shown nothing but continuous love and support, specially after my mother passed. And that was nice. I felt that I still have a 2nd mom who would regularly call just to check I'm ok and cheer me up.

April 2021 Since my mom's passing in December 2020, I was continuously in touch with my (former) mother-in-law --- until April 20, 2021. 4 months after my mother passed, I also unexpectedly lost my (former) mother-in-law. We were just on the phone the previous day.

Since that sorrowful day in December 2020, I started buying bouquets regularly and would always put a beautiful bunch next to my mother's photo.

This always gave me a sense of serenity.

I would replace the bouquet regularly and this has been the norm for the next few weeks and the next few months, until April 2021.  Since that fateful day in April, I then started buying 2 bouquets regularly - 1 for my mother, and the other for my (former) mother-in-law.  And again, this has been the norm for the next few weeks until one day, I asked myself...

"Why don't I just grow the flowers in my garden?"

I thought this was a fantastic idea as it will save me a lot of time, money, and effort --- but how wrong could I be!

In my fantasy world, all I thought I needed to do was throw some seeds onto the ground and I should see some flowers bloom in a few weeks.  I could then cut it and make my own bouquet - like the ones I buy in the shops.

In reality, this is what my first year growing flowers looked like -

June 2021:  Bought seeds online and sowed them.

October 2021:  I had my very first blooms that I was able to cut and turn into a bouquet.  A miniature bouquet!!

Well, imagine my confusion when I realized what I produced was not the same as what I buy in the shops.  Regardless, these still made me very happy and felt I could still put them next to the photos of the mothers - which is what I did.

I then started looking into why my flowers are not the same as the long beautiful flowers you get from the shops... and the rest is history :)
